Matthias Kröner is the founder and CEO of Fidor. On a mission to democratize financial services and co-create with customers and partners, he is viewed as one of Europe’s most visionary entrepreneurs and one of the banking industry’s most progressive leaders.
Kröner began his professional career within the hospitality industry - an experience that led to his strong belief in the importance of a truly customer-first approach. Before long he had co-developed the first continental European online bank, Direkt Anlage Bank AG (DAB Bank), at the age of just 32. DAB Bank was successfully acquired by large industry institutions, and today belongs to BNP Paribas.
Kröner has continued developing a track record of founding fintech firms that achieve impact at international scale. After receiving its full banking licence in 2009 Fidor has gone on to expand from Germany into the UK and France, use its banking expertise, technology and EU licence to grow a parallel co-entrepreneur business under the brand Fidor Solutions, set-up an in-house customer engagement agency known as Fidor Factory and conclude an acquisition with Groupe BPCE – one of France’s largest financial group.
