Head of the Financial Systems Development and Insurance Cluster - GIZ
Wolfgang Bücker is Head of the Financial Systems Development and Insurance Cluster at GIZ and directs the Global Initiative for Access to Insurance and the Financial Systems Development Sector Programmes. He has been working for GIZ since August 2008 in the field of financial inclusion as well as financial sector stability. He headed the Competence Center of GIZ for seven years. Since September 2015, he has been responsible for the Sector Programme of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). His main focus is on financial sector regulation and supervision as well as SME and green finance. He has wide-ranging financial sector expertise in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Middle East/North Africa. Before joining GIZ, he was a consultant to banks in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe in the field of risk management and treasury. From 1998 to 2003 he worked as an expert for micro, SME and housing loan projects in the Balkans and in Turkey. He holds a Master degree in Economics from the Free University of Berlin.
