Senior Vice President of International Institutions Engagement - Mastercard
Rory Macfarquhar is the Senior Vice President of International Institutions Engagement for the Strategic Growth Team of Mastercard. Rory comes to Mastercard from Google where he served as director of global economic policy representing the company in international bodies such as the OECD, IMF and World Bank. Before joining Google, he was a visiting fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
Previously, he spent six years in the Obama administration most recently serving as special assistant to the President and senior director for global economics and finance in the White House National Security Council and National Economic Council. At the White House, he led policy teams working on a wide range of international economic and trade issues, including US-China economic relations, economic support for Ukraine, Tunisia, and Iraq, and addressing global economic vulnerabilities. Before entering the U.S. government, he worked for eight years in economic research at Goldman Sachs, based in Moscow and London.
Rory graduated with distinction from Yale University and received his MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.
