We are Going Virtual!

The safety and well-being of our members and participants is of utmost importance to the SME Finance Forum. After careful consideration and bearing in mind the global health emergency and ongoing travel restrictions, the SME Finance Forum is turning the upcoming Global SME Finance Forum 2020 into a fully virtual event.

The 2020 Global SME Finance Forum – Virtual Edition - will be held over three fully-immersive half-days on October 26-28 and will be accessible to all SME financing experts for FREE. Last year, our event witnessed over 700 industry leaders from around the world. However, this year offers the opportunity to log in from the comfort of your homes and we expect to witness a higher turnout of industry leaders who could not make it to our in-person conference in Amsterdam.

While we'd love to interact with you in-person, over the past 3 months, we've time and again demonstrated our ability to adapt to the new normal and assure all our members that the virtual conference will emulate the same in-person experience, by offering one-on-one networking, virtual marketplaceexhibition boothsbreakout sessionsfireside chats, and panel discussions, as well as the recognition of the Global SME Finance Award winners, and the presentations of the best Call for Insights articles. Please join us for a new and exciting digital journey. Registrations are open at

Bookmark 26-28 October on your calendar to join us in our Virtual Edition for what has become the largest, highest-level, most technically in-depth, more geographically diverse meeting on SME financing that occurs each year!

Call for Insights

Since its formation, the SME Finance Forum has been on top of all of the major trends in this field. We predicted the importance of partnership when all around us were emphasizing fintech-bank competition. We declared that competitiveness in financing now had to include additional non-financial support for improving SMEs themselves – a reversal of decades of advice, but now common wisdom. Finally, we predicted the growing importance of converging non-financial firms on this market in this past year’s Global SME Finance Forum, just as the rest of the world was starting to note the potential impact of “techfins”, “tech giants”, “platforms”, on the sector.

Following our practice of leveraging as much knowledge sharing as we can from our membership and our wider public audience, we will launch a public "Call for Insights" on what SME finance will look like in 2030. To celebrate the new decade, this year’s Global SME Finance Forum will look much farther forward, to imagine where we might be in SME financing a decade from now. We will test the limits of our prescience by predicting how products, delivery channels, institutions and enabling environments might look 10 years from now.

Best articles will be shared in a special report to be issued at the conference, and the authors will be considered for speaking roles at the event.

Apply for the "Call for Insights" on the form below. Share your vision before July 31!
